![]() The numbers here are spiraling out of control but am I the only one that sees that flu numbers are practically zero or not even recorded anymore? It does raise a question or two.
Again Kelli thanks all of you for the love displayed as well as the thanks on those posts from the fine members here. She took her first unaided steps on Saturday so that is a positive sign. I was banned on vef simply for heing her friend and supporter. Oh my goodness, 2433 cases here on may 01 As Alberta logs record 2,433 COVID-19 cases, province scales back variant screening Jason Herring May 01, 2021 1 day ago 4 minute read 131 Comments Alberta’s record surge of COVID-19 infections reached new heights Saturday, as the province reported 2,433 new cases. It’s by far the most cases logged in Alberta in a single day, a significant step up from the 2,048 and 2,007 infections reported Thursday and Friday, respectively. Driving By Numbers: Canada's 10 best-selling vehicles in 2021's first quarter The cases came from 20,457 tests, representing an 11.9 per cent positivity rate, also an all-time high. The surge has overwhelmed Alberta’s ability to process new cases, forcing the province to scale back variant testing efforts. An Alberta Precision Laboratories bulletin issued Friday indicates that starting Saturday, only positive cases from specific populations will be screened for more-contagious variants of concern. Only cases that involve patients in hospitals or emergency rooms, health-care workers, recent international travellers or identified outbreaks will be tested for variants. Swelling volumes of cases mean only these groups, considered to represent high-risk scenarios, will have their tests screened for variant strains, according to the memo. “Positivity rates and overall test volumes of COVID-19 have rapidly increased, necessitating a change in the testing strategy to maintain laboratory capacity and turnaround times,” the bulletin read. On Saturday, Alberta reported 1,743 new cases of variants, including 1,336 cases of the dominant B.1.1.7 strain, 392 cases of the P.1 strain and 15 cases of the B.1.351 strain. There are 13,986 active variant cases, comprising 62.1 per cent of Alberta’s total active infections. That number could decrease in coming days, as fewer tests are completed to screen for variants. Alberta has tested all cases for variants each day since Feb. 3. Alberta Health Services said the move to decrease variant testing was done to ensure Albertans receive test results more quickly. “As the United Kingdom (B.1.1.7) variant is now the dominant strain in Alberta, and we are able to monitor for other variants through a targeted strategy, it is no longer necessary to screen all positive tests for variants,” the health authority said in a statement. They said Alberta has “the most robust strategy in Canada” for monitoring COVID-19 spread. In early April, Alberta Health said they had capacity to test about 1,600 cases for variants daily. They did not provide an updated count on request Saturday. The drop-off in variant testing means Alberta will be “driving blind” when it comes to spread of the more-transmissive strains, said Malgorzata Gasperowicz, a developmental biologist at the University of Calgary. “I understand why they’re doing it, because everything is overwhelmed. If you don’t have resources, it’s a smart thing to do. If you can’t test all people, you test those in the hospitals. But it just shows that we’re overwhelmed, our resources are overwhelmed,” Gasperowicz said. Gasperowicz said the lack of population-level testing for variants will mean the province won’t know if another variant takes over and becomes dominant in Alberta. She called the new case rates the “worst situation” Alberta has seen to date, saying new restrictions announced Thursday, which close junior and senior high schools and indoor sport in virus hotspots, are insufficient to drive down spread. “They’re disproportionate to the severity of the situation, because this is much worse than what we had during the second wave,” Gasperowicz said. “I really thought that something would be done before we reached these numbers.” According to Gasperowicz’s projections, daily case counts could reach 3,000 by May 12 at the current rate of growth. It’s a situation she said would be even worse if widespread immunizations were not already underway. Alberta chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw did not address the spike in cases Saturday. She posted on Twitter asking Albertans to follow all public-health measures through the weekend. NDP Opposition health critic David Shepherd called the case count “alarming,” laying blame for the surge with Alberta’s premier. “Jason Kenney’s policy of acting last and acting least is an utter and abject failure,” Shepherd said. “We have gotten here today due to his failure to act with the evidence and public-health advice.” Shepherd also criticized UCP deputy speaker Angela Pitt for a Facebook post opposing the latest round of restrictions, saying the rules aren’t working. Pitt’s riding of Airdrie-East is among regions in Alberta considered a viral hotspot and subject to the new measures. Outside Bowden, about 105 kilometres north of Calgary, thousands attended a rodeo in defiance of public-health restrictions, according to CTV Calgary. Current rules prohibit all gatherings of more than 10 people, but hundreds of cars filed in to the event. RCMP did not take enforcement action, while AHS said they were considering legal action against organizers. Alberta’s active case count climbed to another new high Saturday, with 22,504 total active infections. Hospitalization rates remained stable, with 646 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 152 of whom are in intensive |

The simple truth is that the measures to contain Covid, such as mask wearing, physical distancing, contact restrictions and cancelled events, all work equally well against influenza. Sars-CoV-2 is more contagious than the seasonal flu viruses, and against the latter there is already a considerable level of immunity due to vaccinations and previous infections. So if the reproduction rate for Sars-CoV-2 is brought near 1, the reproduction rate of flu is well below 1, meaning that the disease never kicks off at large scale. Once the current restrictions are lifted, influenza will come back. Likely it will first be seen in New Zealand and Australia in two months. |

![]() Personally I don't care what the CDC says about this or that, but even after my 2nd dose has finished cooking, I'm sure in the hell not running around without a mask. I just did it for the whole "not frakin' dying" part.

The rise of India's 'Covid quack' ![]() A charismatic anti-vaccination campaigner has gained popularity by claiming that medical science's approach to the pandemic is entirely wrong. But critics say Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury is endangering lives by falsely claiming he can cure Covid-19 through diet alone, report Ed Main and Reha Kansara.Source: Code:

Unless your dietologist or GP tell you to follow a certain diet and lifestyle, better not to self-medicate or become your own doctor, by following what you read online or what you think you know about certain medications or ingredients. In all honesty, though, a diet rich in fiber and proteins, plenty of water, no alcohol/drugs/smoking, exercise and good sleep is what most people need to be healthy, without having to buy 3-5 different supplements, or just stick to veggies only. You don't have to eat meat, pork, eggs and fish everyday. Even just twice a week is sufficient. Healthy fats are good for the liver as well your cardiovascular system (specially Omega 3 found in fish).

![]() A topic that is currently barely receiving any attention in the media: Prostitution during Corona
Because prostitution is currently also banned in countries where it is normally allowed, this is a wonderful opportunity to see what happens if you suddenly ban prostitution. In my hometown there are currently 50 ads from prostitutes who advertise their services on the Internet, openly for all to see - although it is prohibited. The address where you can visit them, however, can only be found on request via WhatsApp. So prostitution does not "magically" disappear, as feminists in particular have repeatedly propagated. It just goes „under the radar“ and the women are driven into the hands of criminals. However, the current situation also forces some of the women to look for real jobs. Especially those who don’t live in the country they work and are restricted by travel bans. One of my favorite girls joined the Hungarian Military last year and is now actively involved in the country’s vaccination program – and she’s super happy about it! |

Tube sites have reported an incredible increase of traffic. Not to mention Cam sites as well. Here in Italy, most swinger couples, as well regular prostitutes that used to meet their clients at their houses, have all almost switched to Cam sex. If anything, other than the deaths and sickness this whole pandemic brought, it also brought a lot more loneliness and depression to people who didn't even suffered depression before. I suffered depression and social anxiety many years ago, and learned how to cope with those symptoms and sudden breakdowns many years ago through CBT. So, fortunately, the whole lockdown and social distancing didn't affected me that much. But some people really felt the effects of the lockdowns so badly, that they either killed themselves or their families, or have grown an addiction to Porn. And they look at Cam sex and Porn as a way to escape from all the news we hear on TV everyday, and the loneliness caused by all social restrictions. People are getting really tired and fed up with this crap. Talking about going back to normal. ![]() Yes, we will all get vaccinated and move on with our life, as society wants us to. But what about the loneliness and depression the lockdowns and social distancing brought to many people? Those won't get fixed by just 2 shots of a vaccine and by eliminating all restrictions. I have a feeling many people won't be able to return back to their usual normal routine. Just like people who get out from Jail. You just get used to a certain lifestyle after awhile. And try to re-adapt to your old routine and lifestyle it ain't something you can fix overnight. ![]()
